All of our prints are made on heavy matte paper with Epson Ultrachrome pigment inks using special software to achieve stunning color and neutral toned black & white prints and to ensure the best possible longevity. When properly mounted and framed, these prints are rated in excess of 80 years.
All prints up to 17x22 are individually packaged in a clear plastic sleeve with a stiff backer and an information sheet. Individual notecards with envelopes are also placed into protective plastic sleeves. Notecard sets come in attractive white boxes with clear plastic covers. For protection during shipping, all reprints larger than 11x14 and all panoramas are rolled and placed into a sturdy mailing tube. All packaging is included in the item price.
Photos and Maps
All photos and maps are printed with a white border. Some paper comes in standard photographic sizes and some does not, but in all cases we have printed with standard frames and mats in mind. Because all images are presented in their entirety, some will have more white border on two sides depending on the proportions of the original. We always print to fill the desired size as much as possible and center the image. This table summarizes paper and image sizes:
Photo and Map Paper and Image Sizing
||Max Image Size
|5" x 7" notecard
||4" x 6"
|8.5" x 11"
||8" x 10"
|11" x 14"
||10.5" x 13.5"
|17" x 22"
||16" x 20"
|24" x 36"
||23.5" x 35.5"
Notecards are printed on the same heavy matte paper as other prints. When folded, they are 5"x7" and have images that fit approximately within 4"x6". The inside is blank and the back has some information about the image.
All panoramas are printed on 8.5" high paper with a 1/4" white border on the top and bottom and an extra inch or more on each end to make them easier to handle. The length of each print varies according to the length of the original panorama.
Other paper heights are available, including 13", 17" (these 2 sizes while paper supplies last) and 24" high. As with the smaller panoramas, the print length will vary. All panoramas may be ordered larger but because these are custom prints and will be charged by the square foot, we ask you to contact us beforehand for pricing. Remember that panoramas quickly get very long as the paper height increases. We have the 1915 Fairbanks panorama in our lab printed on 24" high paper and it is over 12 feet long! Prints of this size require special framing considerations and we suggest that you also check with your art framer to determine if they can handle items that large.
